Chartwell Castle and Guest House


Chartwell Castle and Guest House accommodation situated in Chartwell West, Johannesburg, Gauteng, have the biggest known uninterrupted hedgerow maze in the Southern world (and the third biggest in the world), boasting more than 900 conifers.

Chartwell Castle and Guest House accommodation is situated on the outskirts of Greater Johannesburg ± 30 minutes from the old city Centre and on the Klein Jukskei River, stands this prominent four-storied Castle on 5 Ha (12 acres), providing accommodation for a maximum of 34 people sharing (13 in the Castle, and 21 in cottages)..  The main building is of late 17th Century architectural style.

Our accommodation is located in tranquil Chartwell West, yet close to the main roads, shopping malls (Fourways Mall, Fourways Crossing, Broadacres Garden Centre, Cedar Square), Monte Casino, The Lion Park, Lanseria Airport, and the brand new Fourways Hospital. We are within easy driving distance from O. R. Tambo International Airport, Ellis Park Stadium, and Soccer City Stadium.

Our guest house is very spacious and peaceful, with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. We have the biggest known uninterrupted hedgerow maze in the Southern world (and the third biggest in the world), boasting more than 900 conifers. It covers about 6000 sq.m. (approximately 1.5 acres), which is about 5 times bigger than The Hampton Court Maze. We have five suites with private bathrooms and under-floor heating, sleeping a total of 13 guests. They are all bright and spacious, with traditional country décor. We also have four charming bush cottages on river - in a cluster , but very private - and two cottages in the gatehouse, sleeping a maximum of 21 guests.

We speak English, Afrikaans, and German.
Breakfast is served between 7:00 and 9:00 am, but if you wish to eat earlier, please let us know. We wish you a very relaxing and enjoyable stay!
